Dear Parents,
This past week a
student who was riding his bike to school was hit by a van on the corner of 42nd
Avenue and Macleod Trail. Fortunately the student is fine though the front
wheel of his bike is beyond repair. As
parents can imagine, this was a big shock for the student.
The great majority of
children have no experience with such situations and while the driver brought
the student to school, she did not report the accident or follow through to
make sure he was ok.
I will be talking to
students about what to do in case of unusual situations. Parents may wish to do
so as well. It is helpful if students come to school with at least one other where
possible.
Incidents such as this
remind all of us of the importance of traffic safety and the need to exercise
extra care for children.
On a lighter note,
students enjoyed sports day and the opportunity to play games and be active for
a morning or afternoon.
Thank you to the many
parent volunteers who helped out this past week and especially with the sports
days.
